About the author:
Pippa Blake was married to Sir Peter Blake for 22 years and shared many of his ocean racing adventures. After the birth of their two children, Sarah-Jane and James, Pippa remained intimately involved in Peter's round-the-world yachting campaigns, assisting with race preparations and even joining Peter and his crews on voyages. She competed alongside Sir Peter in the Sydney to Hobart yacht race, and sailed from the United Kingdom to the Southern Hemisphere on more than one occasion. A successful artist, Pippa continues to live and work at the home she shared with Sir Peter in Emsworth, a seaside village in the south west of England. She is a regular visitor to New Zealand and serves as a trustee of the Sir Peter Blake Trust, which carries on the environmental and leadership work of Sir Peter after his tragic death in 2001.
